Course Content:
This is a broad introductory lecture that covers the origins of liturgical music and the development of medieval chant, all the way to the formation and history of Gregorian chant. You'll also learn the basics of reading chant notation, including neumes and modes.
This course is designed to build a strong foundation for the practical chant and psalmody classes. The content is explained in an easy-to-understand way, making it accessible even for those without a music background. Guest lecturers, including Father Park Won-ju, are also scheduled to participate.
